This week we have an illustrator who have had close sooooo many times since, but is dedicated to the illustration in its entirety, some time working with a company that is all a totem for those who love the boxes, folders and all kinds of illustrative material to go to school :-))) ), Busquets. His characters are sweet as her, and just look to realize a self portrait ... Understanding a. .. CARME Villaplana ROOM!

Name: Carme Sala Villaplana
Date and place of birth: Sabadell, Novembre 1969.
Blog: http://lamevamaleta.blogspot.com/

M & G: "or self-taught art studies? Carme
: The two things First, I studied graphic design at the School of Design Elisava and after finishing my studies I could receive private lessons from the Japanese artist Jeff Nishinaka, Los Angeles (USA) in specialty paper sculpture. Was a very enriching experience for me.
On the other hand, I have the pleasure of working for a publishing company we design stationery products: From school libraries until Christmas or Christmas prints communion; Products feed on market trends and fashion, and as such, is very dynamic, that I can not rest on any particular style. Image

M & G: What was your first job as an illustrator? Carme
: My first job as an illustrator, I received during the time he was studying design; It was a wall calendar advertising, where it appeared a map of Catalonia Naïve style, very simple, with emphasis on the localities in which it was the advertising company. I did it with dyes and ink, and was very happy and colorful.
I felt a great responsibility and I strive on it.
I have a nice memory of that first job that allowed me to buy my first professional camera.

M & G: Does your favorite work you have done so far? Carme
: illustrate the book "The grandmother needs kisses" has been a wonderful experience, because it was a separate project, developed between Anna Berger (writer) and me. The dream of creating a story with which to teach something to a child, is something that has always interested me. Finally, it has become reality. Also, I like the pictures I've done for various Vicente Ferrer Christmas or Red Cross, through the Editorial Busquets (who to work for many years), and I always try to communicate a sense of kindness and altruism, which is something that requires a very specific emotional state. If someone drawing a smile, I smile too. Images

M & G: How inspires you? Carme
: Actually, I always start with the antenna! I'm always looking for images to be surprised, no matter if I'm flipping through a magazine, or shopping at the supermarket: The product packagings me crazy, but I also love to observe the increasingly elaborate graffiti that bloom on some walls.
Inspire me also worth more traditional methods: Browse by specialized sites or browse the books on design trends, every time I have the opportunity.

M & G: Tell us a little "what is art you use for your work? Carme
: depends on the type of work, I usually from a pencil drawing on paper or ink. The next step is to scan and once on the computer, color it or apply as many layers as desired digital collage, to achieve the desired effect. Although sometimes I like to be traditional: coloring with watercolor or gouache or paste colored paper collage as life, how for the Stamp of communion at the bottom of this text, made on recycled paper with gouache .
Other works, more graphics, fully realized in the computer using Freehand or Illustrator and Photoshop, how the self-portrait that appears at the beginning. Image

M & G: Do you have a story that happened to you as an illustrator? Carme
: The most surprising, no doubt was when Ana Berger wrote to ask if he would be interested to put a face to his story of "Grandma needs kisses." He had seen my blog and it seemed that our styles could very well explain its history.
Until that day, we did not know anything and she did not hesitate a second, to make me this incredible proposal. I after reading it, do not hesitate. It was a lovely story.

M & G: Tell us one of your hobbies for your free time. Carme
: My work and my hobbies come together. Find inspiration in itself is a great hobby. While stirring at flea markets and charm makes me lose my head. Find treasures at these sites, makes shooting my creativity: What I find, photograph and expose it in my blog ... or inspires me a job in the editorial. If something that happens, I feel something magical, as if he had gone hunting and returned with the perfect piece. Look at all the windows, every time I go out. And why not: drawing. I'm not sure if I have many Hobbys ... or it comes down to one.

M & G: Your book- favorite story? Carme
: "The Adventures of Petit Nicolas" at home we love them all. The entire series of books "This Is" (New York, Paris, London ...) Miroslav Šašek.
"Olivia" the hyperactive Pig Ian Falconer ... is great! Any
Quino book for its intelligent humor. And here I stand, and why would and would not want to bore ...

M & G: "movie or animated series favorite? Carme
: There are so many good movies! but if I have to highlight some within the world of animation, I'd stay with "Corpse Bride" Tim Burton and "Spirited Away" Miyazaki. And until recently, I saw what was happening in big series like "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" with my two daughters, who share with me the sofa and lots tasty series of drawings.

M & G: What character or drawing you identify? Carme
: depends on the moment: As I am very emotional when I'm happy I get excited easily and I feel like Amelie. Even during a long season took his own hair (which is reflected in my portrayal of Banner of my blog). Instead, when I'm sad, I see it all gray, I reflect with Sally from "Nightmare Before Christmas," sorry for his fate, but can repair itself over and over again.

M & G: What illustrator or graphic artist you highlight? Carme
: There are hundreds ... but my particular podium, they share: Quino, Sempé and Cesc, artists that I adore, not only for his drawings, but the message can transmit through them . Scripts with lots of information, resolved in a single image. Being able to do that is to be touched by the hand of God!
But I'm very eclectic and I love the pictures of Alsatian Tomi Ungerer, Jose Luis Merino, Roser Capdevila and Tim Biskup among many, many other.

M & G: Recommend a website or blog that you especially like
