Illustrated World, Today: BEN-ARAB MARIAM!

After the embarrassment of polvorones, neulas and galets (we are that we can not even move), nothing beats a good dose of enlightened world at its best to lower chichornios and tensions.
This year looks good, soooo good (or at least I believe in and Golafre Martina, you have to be positive eh! "Never négatif always positif" or was it vice versa?? Do not know, something big head coach said that man Barça) and so we have to inaugurate a whole artistazo that you will love. Come on, that has nivelazo!, Mind you in all his characters and scenes because they are amazing, since I saw her waiting for the bus pink monster dream to meet them any day at the bus stop 14 ooooohhhhh! (Although I always find other "monsters" juas juas) In addition I have to say that our artist today is one of the mothers of a child very, very savvy and take "Pa'lante" called Apollo. I do not say anything else ... today ... MARIAM BEN-ARAB!

Mariam: As a professional, first thing I did was the artwork for the album The Llegendes de Sant Jordi, with Empúries.

M & G: Does your favorite work you have done so far?
Mariam Lately I've really enjoyed the two books-game "to play Riddles" and "sayings to play," Vox, I enjoyed very much because the pictures have a multitude of details and humor. But my last love is undoubtedly Apollo, the child protagonist of the graphic novel "Politik", we've done together with Emma Reverter (and I text her drawings) and published by Roca Editorial.

M & G: What inspires you?
Mariam: Well with everything! Looking around me, digging in my imagination and, above all, soaking the work of others, like a sponge: movies, pictures, photographs, books, comics ... There are so many creative in the world that is impossible to cover everything!

M & G: Tell us a little "what is the technique you use for your work?
Mariam: Most of the time work Computer: first do the pencil sketch, scan it, y. .. To give to Photoshop! When working with traditional techniques usually used in combination with acrylic crayons.

M & G: Do you have a story that happened to you as an illustrator?
Mariam: The day India ink stained the entire corridor, door frames, the sofa, floor and carpet toooda room, was really memorable. Do not ask me how it happened because I do not understand and I ...

M & G: Tell us one of your hobbies for your free time.
Mariam: I have no free time! The good (or bad, depending on how you look at it) to become an illustrator, is that your hobby becomes your job. But when I'm not drawing I like reading and watching a lot of films, as anyone, I guess!

M & G: Your book- favorite story?
Mariam: Wow, so many! The latest additions I made to my library of picture books have been "Duck and death" Wolf Erlbruch, "Valset" Xavier Salomo and "Snowhite" by Ana Juan. All so different and so delicious!

M & G: "movie or animated series favorite?
Mariam: I love "Shaun the Sheep", a series of Aardman for children but with a very subtle point splendid adult, I laugh out loud when I see and I was amazed by the smoothness of the animation technique . As for films, I'll take almost all of Pixar, especially The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-e ... na know what you decide. And a less commercial say that is a masterpiece, Les Triplets of Belleville.

M & G: What character or drawing you identify?
Mariam: I feel very identified with Patrick McDonnell's comic strip "Mutts" and its two main characters Earl and Mooch. I like to read it to try to preserve that look innocent and prejudices that we all when we were kids ... I think it's important, and I are going great for developing my work.

M & G: What illustrator or graphic artist would you highlight?
Mariam: Dozens, hundreds. Every day I discover any. I love Dave McKean, Bill Watterson, James Jean, Rebecca Dautremer, Shaun Tan .. the list is endless.

M & G: Recommend a website or blog that you especially like
Mariam Natascha Rosenberg's blog is delicious, photographs are inspiring and his drawings so cute! Besides getting recommendations is in their posts of things we like and sometimes you find very interesting things. And the blogs of my talented colleagues Jordi Solano, Dani Torrent, César Samaniego, Zuzanna Celej, Sonja Wimmer, Gemma Capdevila ... succulent, not miss them! Molten
